Get to Know Us

Most people think The Kraft Co name started with our founder, Julie Kraft. Before Julie though, there was another Kraft woman—Margaret Kraft-Green, known to most as “Peg.” In Kingsley, Iowa, she led her own business for decades. It’s where Julie grew up and learned the secrets to getting out the most stubborn of shirt stains, and then, it’s where Brie sipped Sprite from glass bottles (yes, it tasted better). We truly can’t take the credit, because this is where our entrepreneurial spirit comes from. She’s the real reason for the name, and she paved the way for us today.

Fast forward to the fall of 2022 when both Julie and Brie were separately freelancing in the marketing, communication, writing, editing, and media spaces. Julie looped Brie in on certain projects; Brie bounced ideas back to Julie on hers. There was ultimately a lot of crossover (as you know, with marketing and communication) and the age old ‘two heads are better than one’ applied regularly. Toward the end of that year, a potential client approached and truly needed both women's skills and knowledge. Julie had already formed The Kraft Co, LLC for her own work and as a possibility for something bigger down the road, and this was that “something.” One official meeting was the catalyst, and the present day The Kraft Co was formed.

Today, The Kraft Co offers marketing and communication services that empower small to medium sized businesses, nonprofits, and other brands. In a world and industry that’s niching down, we’re the partner that understands the value in having an aligned marketing, communication, and PR agency. And with our unique set of combined experiences amongst the team, we’re able to provide comprehensive
services that support marketing strategies, content creation, creative direction, and strategic communication.

Julie Kraft

I bring an extensive strategy, media, and communication background to The Kraft Co. Working as a senior consultant for a research and consultation firm for nearly 20 years, I created high-level, detailed strategic plans for TV stations and networks, helping many of those clients achieve ratings (and financial) success in their respective TV markets, both domestically and abroad.

Recognizing that my skill set could be applied outside of the media bubble, I obtained a master’s in strategic communication and launched The Kraft Co to guide businesses and nonprofits in strategy, brand, marketing, communication, and crisis communication. I also coach executives, researchers, governments officials, and others on how to work with the media and be more effective communicators.

To keep a pulse on emerging consumer, marketing, and media trends, I also teach a range of online courses at two major state universities.

Brie Shouppe

After obtaining a degree from the University of Florida, I started my career as an associate producer in one of television’s largest local news markets. Wanting to expand, I transitioned to a role focused on marketing and business development for one of the top privately held security companies in the United States. In late 2022, I moved on from my role as director of marketing and business development to work as a freelance ghostwriter, editor, and content creator, and marketing specialist. Then in early 2023, I officially joined The Kraft Co.

At The Kraft Co, I am deeply passionate about our clients stories and prioritizing the best ways to share them. I partner with each organization to support their needs in branding, social media, website copy, writing, editing, and much more.

I share my love for reading as a co-host on the Narratives & Nightcaps podcast, a production of The Kraft Co.
